Computers are great things, but if you are not backing up your data regularly, computers can be a pain. Losing important data can be an overwhelming situation, and in worse case scenarios, you can lose your job. The reason you need to back up your data is because harrdrives fail all the time. Even though the computer has become a lot more reliable over the years, it is virtually impossible to prevent computers from losing data.

The ideal way to ensure that you keep your data safe is by making backups on a regular basis. In general, you should back up your computer data at least once a week, with once per day being the recommended for those of you who work from your computer and are always creating new files.

When you create a backup of your entire hard drive, it will copy all of your information, so if something happens you’ll always have your data. Doing a full backup of your hard drive is great, although it can be very time consuming. To make matters worse, it is recommended that you create a backup at least once a week. On the other hand, if what you have on your computer is very important, you’ll find it more than worth the effort and time needed to back things up.

Another way you can back up your data, programs, and files, is to burn them directly to a data CD or DVD. This way, you can select which files or folders you want to keep. If you use CD/RW or DVD/RW disks, you can continue to add information to them when you create a backup. If you don’t use the RW (re-writable) media, then you won’t be able to go back and add more information to the disc.

Burning data directly to discs are the method of backup that most people are using these days, although backing up the entire hard drive is the preferred way of backing up your data. If you plan to use discs, you’ll need either a CD or DVD burner, which you can get for a great price these days. The discs are cheap as well, which only makes this method of backing things up that much better.

Another way, which is gaining a lot of popularity is using online backup companies like the carbonite backup services, for example, to store your information online at a remote server. This is a great way to ensure that even if your house burns down, your data will be kept safe at an offsite location.

Backing up your data makes sense, and it is something that everyone should be doing all the time. Remember, if you back up your data, you will be able to avoid disaster when your harddisk crashes.

Medical disabilities are an unfortunate part of age, and many diseases manifest themselves bring pain and depression to the elderly. Crippling diseases like Alzheimers, Dementia, Arthritis as well as a number of physical impairments like hip replacements, back injury and so on.

Seeing a need to help people with medical impairment, company’s have created devices to help the elderly and those with medical conditions to live an independent life with the ease of mind that if they become injured or immobile, that with a press of a button they can summon assistance.

Medical alert technology has made this possible with ingenious products that with a push of a button connects the user to a medical alert center who can then assess the situation and send Emergency Personnel for assistance. This technology is making it possible for people to live independent, stress free lives knowing that they can have someone help them when help is needed. Medical alert technology is indeed a life saving technology that has saved thousands of lives.

I’m back, back to tell you about all the awesome technology taht I love, and I do love it. All the gadgets and good cool stuff that just makes things cool. So I found this little gem on the Internet, it’s called a toilet monster and basically what you do is put this cool gadget under the toilet seat and then the toilet lid over it. When some unfortunate person goes to do number 1 or 2, these littel gremlins pop out at them giving them the scare of their lives. It’s some funny shit.

Most people don’t realize that technology has become smaller and better. In essence, it’s sometimes good when things aren’t made like they used to be. For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, let me explain. Inside your computer there may be one or more little boxes that are called a hard-disk or hard-drive. These little metal boxes contain a number of disks that let you store your information, like mp3, movies, operating system and so on. Unlike RAM memory that is only temporary, the information on the hard-disk is permanent until its erased or physically damaged. Hard-Drives have come a long way from the first models, and I thought that you would enjoy a little history on the first Hard-Disk called the IBM 350 Disk Storage Unit. Introduced in September 4 1956 IBM 350 Disk Storage Unit storage device to use disks instead of drums to store information.

With a whopping 24 inch diameter disks, this antique could only store about 5 megabytes of data, which is about the size an average MP3 file. This Monster, weighed about 1 ton and as you by the enclosed picture, it needed special handling. Although something like this is more suited to a museum than a business, it was nonetheless at the forefront of technology and a symbol of how technology has changed in the last 50 years, it was a really cool machine, but probably only something that a real computer geek can get their head around.

Remember the original Sony Walkman TPS-L2? It was created in 1979 by the Sony Corporation.

The Sony Walkman concept was very simple, the slapped a set of headsets onto a shrunken tape-player and voila! Walkmans ushered in a new age in listener appreciation allowing people to take their music everywhere.

Most kids today who use Mp3, or those of you who are older may still remember the dvd player . But the Sony Walkman was truly revolutionary and the main reason behind some of today’s most elaborate pieces of technology. It made electronics a personal thing, something that only you had.

It looks more like a chopping block than a gadget, but this little wooden thing was at the edge of technology in the 60′s. Invented by Douglas Engelbart in 1964 at Stanford Research Institute, this shellacked, block shered in a new age in technological sophistication

It wasn’t as sophisticated as the mouse we use today, which incorporate either a ball or light to move your pointer, this mouse had two wheels at 90degree angles that let the mouse to move and down on the screen. So now you know, more cool stuff later.
